Every Friday · 8:00am · Indianapolis area

AI & Coffee.
Indiana's AI table.

A free morning meetup in central Indiana where everybody gets a seat and a voice. Any industry, any level, including people who have never opened an AI tool. No agenda, no slides and nobody presenting. Bring what you are building, or bring a question and a coffee.

AI & Coffee

01 The pattern

Free, in person,
a seat and a voice.

AI & Coffee is a free morning meetup in the Indianapolis area for anyone in Indiana working with AI, thinking about it, or quietly worried they are behind. There is no agenda, no slide deck and no speaker. People sit down with coffee, say what they are building or stuck on, and compare notes. Any industry, any level, and nothing is sold in the room. It runs every Friday morning, 8:00am to 9:00am. The meetup is moving to a new home right now, so the address goes out to the email list first.

02 What happens

Coffee, laptops,
and honest questions.

One

You get the floor if you want it

Around the table, briefly, and only if you feel like it. Plenty of people come the first time and say nothing at all, which is fine and fairly common. When you do speak, you get a real answer and not a sales pitch.

Two

Somebody turns a laptop around

This is the part that makes it worth the drive. Watching how another person actually prompts, corrects and gives up on a thing teaches more than reading about it for a week.

Three

You leave knowing people

Central Indiana is small enough that the same faces come back. The value compounds after the second visit, when you have someone to text when something breaks.

03 What gets talked about

Real questions,
from real businesses.

Nobody sets the agenda ahead of time, so the table decides what the morning is about. Here is what came up recently, which is also the clearest answer to whether your industry or your level fits.

A group of six gathered around a screen at an AI and Coffee meetup.

July 24, 2026

Scheduled for an hour. It ran three.

What came up

  • How state and local government are putting AI to work
  • Turning Google reviews into branded videos
  • Building an AI side hustle after retirement
  • Using AI through the sales process
  • What AI can do for marketing a legacy brand
  • How to become the answer a language model gives
People gathered together at an AI and Coffee meetup.

July 17, 2026

The first official one.

What came up

  • Using AI voice for lead generation in an insurance business
  • How a service business gets found in the answer engines
  • Keeping the human connection while the tools get faster
  • The shortage of real AI training in workforce development
  • The good, the bad and the ugly of HR using AI to hire

04 A seat and a voice

Everybody gets both.
Welcomed, and heard.

Any level, and no bar to clear

People running AI tools daily sit at the same table as people who have never opened one. Nobody is quizzed and nobody has to earn their place first. If you are holding a question you think is too basic to ask, that is the question the table wants.

Any industry, and no wrong one

Trades and home services, healthcare, manufacturing, insurance, real estate, nonprofits, schools, government, and people building something on their own. The problems rhyme more than anyone expects once they are said out loud.

You get answered

Saying something into a room and getting nothing back is worse than staying home, so questions get taken seriously here, including the ones somebody was nervous to ask. The only thing that does not work at this table is working the room.

05 Next one

Get told when
the next one is.

One email when a date is set, with the time and the address. Nothing else, and you can unsubscribe from it in one click.

Free to attend and free to leave the list. Your address is used for this and nothing else.

You are on the list. You will hear as soon as a date is set.

06 Questions

Before you come.

Are there AI meetups in Indianapolis?

Yes. AI & Coffee is a free, in-person AI meetup in the Indianapolis area, hosted by Harrison Painter of LaunchReady.ai. It is casual: no agenda, no slides and no speaker. Several other AI and tech groups meet around central Indiana as well, and going to more than one of them is a good idea.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. It is free to attend, there is no ticket and nothing is sold in the room. You buy your own coffee if you want one.

Do I need to know anything about AI to come?

No, and this is the question people ask most. Everybody gets a seat and a voice at this table regardless of level, from those who have never opened an AI tool to those running them daily inside a business. Nobody is quizzed and there is no bar to clear at the door. If you are holding a question you think is too basic to ask out loud, that is exactly the question worth bringing.

What actually happens?

People sit down with coffee and talk about what they are building, what broke, and what they are trying to work out. Someone usually turns a laptop around. There is no presentation and nobody has to say anything.

Who comes, and what industries?

Every industry is welcome and none is a wrong fit: trades and home services, healthcare, manufacturing, insurance, real estate, nonprofits, schools, government, and people building something on their own. Owners, employees who were handed AI as part of the job, and the merely curious. Central Indiana, mostly the Indianapolis area.

How long does it last?

It is scheduled for an hour, 8:00am to 9:00am. It has run longer when the conversation was worth it; one Friday meant for an hour turned into three. Come for the hour and leave when you need to.

When and where does AI & Coffee meet?

Every Friday morning from 8:00am to 9:00am, in the Indianapolis area. It is free, it is open to anyone, and there is nothing to register for. The meetup is moving to a new home at the moment, so add your email below and the address goes to you directly.

Is this a class or a training session?

No. It is a meetup. If you want structured teaching, the workshops and courses on the training page are the place for that; this is the room where people compare notes.

07 Why we do this

Nobody in Indiana
gets left behind.

That is the reason a free table exists at all. Plenty of people in this state are being told they should be doing something with AI and have nowhere to ask a plain question without feeling behind. This is that place, and it costs nothing on purpose. When you want to sit down and build the thing yourself, that is a workshop, and when a whole team needs moving it is a program. Both are on the training page.
